6 1/8" x 7 3/8"
Vincent Known
as "the Liberatrix & Protectress of Holy Mother Russia", the Kazanskaya
Icon is one of the most important historic and religious symbols of the people
of Russia. This 19th century depiction of the Kazanskaya Icon is reproduced
in stained glass by the artisans of Glassmasters. The miraculous imprint was
found in Kazan on July 8, 1579, by a nine-year old girl named Matrona. The Virgin
Mary appeared three times in a dream to Matrona, telling her that a holy icon
could be found under the ruins of a nearby house. Matrona told her priest of
her dreams and the icon was discovered beneath the rubble.
