277 Betwixt and Between

Dr. Hermann Brehm, veterinarian, world-traveler and award-winning photographer, captured this red and yellow barbet at the precise moment that it did the splits between two trees. The photograph was taken while driving through Tarangire National Park in Tanzania, and won Grand Prize in the 2000 National Wildlife Magazine Photo Contest.

A native of Schrozberg, Germany, Dr. Brehm travels throughout Africa, South America, Europe, Asia, and the United States photographing the beauty and peculiarities of animals. He is a four-time winner of the prestigious BBC Photography Competition, as well as numerous other competitions worldwide.
