271 Eagle
Congress made the bald eagle our national symbol in 1782. Weighing
6 to 16 pounds, 32 to 40 inches long, with a wingspan of about 7.5 feet, a bald
eagle can force an osprey to drop a fish, then catch it in midair.
North American bald eagles have build nests 100 feet above the ground, varying
in size from a few sticks to massive structures. It is not uncommon for successive
pairs of eagles to use a single nest for 35 years or more.
Dimensions - round - 6 1/2" diameter.
